Q: What is the "license file" and how does it all work?
A: A license file is a small binary file that was sent to you after you have purchased a license and registered the software. In order to use the software as a registered user, you need to place your license file as described in instructions you have received in your registration package. If you have ordered the program and license on a CD-ROM, installation program will place the license file for you.

Q: How do I download the software I've purchased?
A: Simply visit the web site ( https://www.whereisit-soft.com ) and download the installation file available right on the front page. Install the program, place your license file, and that's all!
Important: Make a backup copy of registration package, including your license file. If you ever need to reinstall the program, you will need it to run the program in the licensed mode. Additionally, only the latest version of the program is available for download on the web site. If you prefer your current version, backup its installation file as well, as it may not be available any more in the future. Remember, it's your responsibility to backup your important files!

Q: Can I place an order with a freemail address?
A: Yes, you can, however you are not allowed to order electronic license delivery to a freemail address, such orders will be denied. If placing an order with a freemail address, you can receive the license and software by regular mail, on a CD-ROM.

Q: How long will I wait for the license after I have placed an order?
A: This mostly depends on how was the order placed, and what kind of payment was selected. Online orders with credit card will be the fastest to process, and waiting time is from a few minutes to a few hours if order is placed during normal business hours. If you have placed your order after hours, or during a weekend or a holiday, it may take up to 48 hours to process your order. All orders are reviewed and validated before any license is issued, for security reasons. In a perfect world we would prefer to fulfill orders automatically, but since this world is not that perfect, we must be on a lookout for its imperfections, and that unfortunately takes time.

Q: What do I do if I don't receive the license after placing my order?
A: To begin with, allow sufficient time for the order to be processed and validated, no licenses are issued automatically (see above). If you have ordered electronic license delivery by e-mail and you have not received an email containing your license information within 48 hours, it is very likely you have provided an invalid email address, or the email was filtered on your end. If your email server has a dedicated folder for suspected spam email, check in there first. If you are using a company email address for license delivery, check with your administrator on email filtering policy. Make sure your email address is functional and capable of receiving emails, including attachments, and adjust any filtering settings as necessary. For your reference, licenses are sent from "orders@whereisit-soft.com" email address, and email contains the license as a .zip file attachment. After taking the appropriate steps, you can contact support to request the license to be resent to you. If necessary, you may provide a different email address for delivery, as long as it is not a freemail address.
If your order states a CD-ROM postal delivery, allow sufficient time for the package to arrive. Delivery time depends on your location and is up to the postal service. If your order qualifies for electronic license delivery (i.e. it does not state a freemail address), license is also sent by email immediately after the order is approved, so you don't have to wait for the mailman.

Q: What is your upgrade policy?
A: All registered users get free lifetime upgrades to all released shareware versions. This has been the case since the very first version in 1997, and is still the case today. You never have to pay for an upgrade, your license file is valid for all current and future versions of the software.

Q: For how many users/computers should I purchase a license?
A: Please refer to the file License.txt, included with the shareware version of the software for all details on End User License Agreement. The relevant extract from the license agreement is available
Basically, you need a single license if you will use the software yourself alone, and you are allowed to install it on more than one computer, if necessary (i.e. on your home computer and your laptop). If the program is installed in a way that offers access to, and is being used by more than one person, you need an appropriate number of licenses.

Q: How do I place a mail or phone order?
A: You can send your order by mail. Start by visiting online order form, and select sending a personal check or cash as the payment method. You will receive the instructions on how to submit your payment, including the mailing address and other relevant information.
Phone orders are not available.

Q: Can I order your product without a credit card?
A: Of course you can. While credit card payments are the most popular and simplest choice, there are several other payment methods available on the order form, including wire transfer, sending a personal check or cash, corporate purchase order etc.

Q: What exactly do you mean by "secure order processing"?
A: This means that when sending us your credit card information via the Internet, your web browser will encrypt it first, and then send it to our processing server in the encrypted form, so that your credit card information cannot be read as it travels over the Internet.
The industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol is used for secure online commerce transactions.

Q: Is the web site really secure? I don't see the lock icon in the status bar.
A: All payment processing like credit card information is collected and sent on a secure web site using encrypted HTTPS connection. It is clearly indicated when you are redirected to a secure server to process the payment.
By default, order pages are displayed in frames. The top page is not secured, nor is there any reason for it, the actual order process takes place in one of the subframes. If the only way you are able to identify a secure connection is by looking for a lock icon in your browser's status bar, there is a link on the top of the first order page saying "Show without frames". This shows order pages in its own window, and this way you will also get to see your little lock icon when on a secure link.

Q: What delivery options do I have?
A: We offer free email delivery of the license(s) by email. That is, after your order has been processed, we will send you your license file by email, along with the instructions on how to use it. You would need to download the installation file, run it to install the software, and place your license file to register it.
If you prefer, you can also choose to receive the software by mail, on a CD-ROM (additional fee applies). Your license file is included on the CD-ROM as well.

Q: What is "evaluation version"?
A: This is a version of the software that you can freely download from the web site and install on your computer for the purpose of evaluating whether it works well enough for your needs. This version comes with certain minor and documented limitations to prevent unauthorized prolonged use, and which are removed after placing a valid license file. You receive a license file after you have purchased a license for continued use.

Q: May I make a copy for a friend?
A: Yes, you may give evaluation copies of our programs to your friends and associates (It's shareware, after all!). However, you may NOT share your license file, if any, with anybody else. Please remember that the license file you are entrusted with is for your own use only. Distributing license file is a major violation of license agreement, and results in immediate license cancellation. To avoid possible confusion, please give out the original installation files that can be downloaded from this site.

Q: What exactly do I get after I've placed my order?
A: When you purchase a license for continued use of our software product, you receive:
  • The right to legally use the software beyond trial period and without functional limitations of the unregistered trial version.
  • Free lifetime upgrades to all future releases of the shareware version. You can always use the latest version of the program, and enjoy all new features.
  • Optional program and license delivery on a CD-ROM, including all add-ons such as plugins, translations, help files, etc.
  • Free priority technical support by e-mail for a period of six months.

Q: Can I download the older versions of your software?
A: Only the latest version of the software is available for free download. Generally, there is no reason why you would want to use an older version from one currently available, however please back up the installation file of any older version of the program you may want to keep.

Q: How do I upgrade to the latest version?
A: Simply download the latest available version from the web site, and install it to the same folder where the current one resides. Your license and data will remain intact.

Q: Do you accept orders from resellers?
A: Yes, anybody can place an order for a third-party. Note that you are required to have available and provide on the order form all requested end-user's details, not your own, when applying for a license. As you are only taking care of the payment for the ordered license, you can specify your own billing details later in process. Typically, issued license is sent to a reseller, to be forwarded to the end user. Feel free to use the comment section of the order form if you need to provide any additional details.

Q: Do you offer quantity discounts?
A: Yes, quantity discounts are available for orders purchasing five or more licenses. The pricing table is available on the order pages.

Q: Do you accept Purchase Orders?
A: Yes, we accept Purchase Orders from organizations and companies (although we reserve the right not to accept any particular purchase order, if it is not up to our requirements). To submit a Purchase Order, first visit our online order form and prepare an order, as usual (please select the method of payment as "Purchase Order"). The instructions on submitting the P.O. will be sent to you after submitting your order.
Please note that your Purchase Order form must clearly show your company name, address, phone/fax number, and a Purchase Order Number, as well as a signature of the authorizing financial officer of your company. Unofficial purchase order forms will not be processed.
